Backed by their savoir-faire, and in collaboration with eye specialistsand opticians, they identified a problem specific to women who wear contact lenses: ocular, or peri-ocular, intolerance to traditional
skincare and makeup products (including hypo-allergenic ones). This problem affects more than one in two women, has no direction relation to a substance identifiable by patch, is often linked to a natural predisposition (skin type, fragile eyes, hypo-lacrymal secretion, age, heredity…) or to conditions of modern life (stress, pollution, agressive products, hard water, dieting, unhealthy eating habits, air-conditioning, smoking…).
By crossing the indepth study of eye and skin physiology with knowledge gleaned from biomaterial used in contactology, they came up with the concept of bio-inertia* formulations.
Initially applied to makeup products for contact lens wearers, the concept has progressively spread to all skincare and makeup products for those with sensitive eyes and skin.
